As promised, here is my review on B.A.P’s Hurricane! I really wish I did a reaction video for this music video because it would have been priceless (the same goes with their song One Shot).
As I have mentioned before, B.A.P always has something new up their sleeves when they release something. They are known for their hardcore and tough image. With Warrior, Power, and No Mercy, B.A.P showed us that they were a rookie group to be reckoned with. At the end of last year, they surprised us with Crash and Stop It – focusing on a typical idol image (cute and pop-y). Then in the beginning of this year, B.A.P decided that they wanted to show us their mature side with Coffee Shop and Rain Sound. They also touched back on their hardcore roots with One Shot. Now with Hurricane, they have showed us their club and party side.
Man, have B.A.P taken us on a crazy “roller coaster ride” since their debut!
When I first listened to the song, I was not impressed. To be honest, I was quite confused and I couldn’t fully wrap my head around the song. The video itself is really cool but the song wasn’t up to par. It was weird. Hurricane felt like one of those SM Entertainment songs that cut and sewed together three different songs into one (nothing against SM, though. I like them!). After listening to Hurricane, I was torn and kind of disappointed because the song wasn’t what I expected. It was choppy and incoherent. Seeing as how I love B.A.P, I decided to apply my “5 Tries” rule.
“5 Tries” is when I listen to a song five more times because I was not impressed with it the first time around. This happened with EXO’s Wolf and Big Bang’s Monster – where I had to sit down and give it “5 Tries.” Sometimes I’ll end up loving the song, and other times I’ll end up hating the song even more. Turns out…I really happen to like this song! Actually, I found out that I liked this song a lot during one of my treacherous exercising runs. My phone shuffled onto the song and all of a sudden, a flood of energy spread through my body! I even ran a little faster! Which is unheard of for me because I’m an old lady when it comes to running. That was when I knew I liked this song. However, Hurricane is not my favorite B.A.P song. I think that this is one of their weaker songs despite it being upbeat and kind of catchy.
Overall, it took me a while to get hooked onto the song. I’m glad that B.A.P tried something new and different because it just shows how much they are growing and adapting in the music industry.
B.A.P is coming out with their new song BADMAN in several hours! I can’t wait! Please look forward to B.A.P’s new song!
